The towering ancient forests of coastal and southwest
Oregon are home to some 1,000 wildlife species, including
imperiled species like the marbled murrelet and the northern
spotted owl. These spectacular forests also encompass some
of the most productive salmon habitat in the lower 48
states.
That makes it doubly disturbing that, in the latter days
of the Bush Administration, these forests lost their
protective status as "reserves," and could be subjected to clear
cut logging.
The Obama Administration is considering whether or not to
restore protections to these cherished forests. Won't you take a moment to
urge the Obama Administration to give them the highest
protections?
Thanks for your help!
Best,
Kathy Kilmer
