Ask for Wilderness Protection for Arctic Coastal Plain

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is an astounding place unequalled anywhere else on earth.  Its coastal plain – the biological heart of the refuge – is nesting, calving and staging ground for millions of birds and thousands of caribou, as well as shaggy muskoxen, grizzly, wolverine, polar bears, and many other species of wildlife.

To provide permanent protection for this precious resource, members of the House and Senate have introduced legislation to designate the Coastal Plain as Wilderness.  Please take a moment to ask your Senators and Representative to co-sponsor the legislation.

Sample Letter for Campaign

Subject: Wilderness Designation for Arctic Coastal Plain

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska is the subject of fierce debate about its future. I am among those who want the biological heart of the Refuge -- the Arctic Coastal Plain -- protected as wilderness.

H.R.567 and S.261 would do just that, and preserve for future generations this place of wonder and beauty.

America has many options to secure its energy future without spoiling this unique place.

Please add your name to the list of co-sponsors of S. 261 and H.R. 567.

And, if you've already co-sponsored this legislation, thank you so much!

Sincerely,
