The ancient trees, cascading rivers, salmon and spotted owls of America's great Pacific Northwest are at risk.

The Bush Administration is trying to get away with a plan to roll back more than a decade of wildlife protections. Former timber lobbyist Mark Rey, who is overseeing recovery plans for the northern spotted owl, is pushing a plan that would destroy habitat in ancient forests.
