The full House of Representatives will be voting on the American Clean Energy and Security Act, HR 2454, as soon as this Friday. Please help by making a call today!

HR 2454 as approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee would for the first time require polluters to pay for the costs of dumping global warming pollution into the air.

The bill would reduce global warming pollution 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020, and 83 percent below 2005 levels by 2050.

It would also create new green jobs by requiring that 20 percent of America's energy comes from renewable energy and energy efficiency.

And the bill recognizes the crucial importance of safeguarding wildlife and other natural resources from the impacts of climate change and the need for a dedicated funding stream to support this work.

This bill is not perfect, but America cannot afford to wait any longer. We must address global warming and this bill moves us forward.
