Well-known for their outstanding wildlife viewing opportunities, big game hunting, and the excellent camping and backpacking, the San Juan Mountains are a recreational and biological treasure trove. Will you help us protect them?

"The San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act" proposes to protect over 60,000 acres of public lands within San Miguel, Ouray, and San Juan Counties as wilderness or other protective designations.

Congratulations on the introduction of the San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act! As a Coloradan, I strongly support this legislation and want to thank you for crafting legislation that will protect the valuable wilderness and wildlife in the San Juan Mountain area.

Our wild lands are vital to our health, standard of living, and the economic development of our state.  I commend you for working closely with key stakeholders, federal agencies, county governments, and citizen groups in putting together this legislation. The broad support this bill enjoys is evidence of this, and will hopefully lead to quick passage in Congress.
