We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit WildAlert.

The short explanation of this alert was:

Your phone calls to Congress are urgently needed to make it plain that Big Oil must be kept out of the Arctic Refuge, now and forever.  We’ve provided some talking points, below.

If you have never called Congress before, it's easy. You’ll either leave a message with a staff member, or on a voice message machine.  The U.S. Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121, or you can look up direct phone numbers for your Members  at:
http://action.wilderness.org/wilderness/leg-lookup/search.tcl

If you absolutely cannot call, please send the letter below, edited as you see fit.

Talking points --What to Say

Urge your Members of Congress to vote against any legislation with language that includes drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

  • The so called "gas relief" package being debated by Congress is a Big Oil bailout - it's taxpayer money that'll just flow back into Big Oil's pocket while the industry is rolling in record profits.
  • Drilling in the Arctic Refuge will not provide relief at the pump. Arctic drilling is not an energy solution - it's just another way of prolonging America's oil addiction.
  • Drilling backers are talking about the Arctic Refuge to distract from their own failure to put America on a path toward energy independence, by, for example, making cars go farther on a gallon of gas.

Thank you!
